Georgia Carpet Ind Blood Drive: Help Us Save Lives on March 31st

Blood drives are an underappreciated and absolutely necessary way to give back to your local community. We at Georgia Carpet Industries are so excited to be holding our very first blood drive at Georgia Carpet! In just a couple of weeks, on Monday, March 31st, we will have Blood Assurance on-site with the Blood Bus. The bus will be in the parking lot located at 3050 North Dug Gap Road in Dalton from 8 a.m. to 2:30p.m. This is our first time holding a blood drive, and we are excited to be able to make a difference in our community in the Dalton and Chattanooga areas. The statistics about blood donation are incredible, and truly every person who donates makes a difference. According to the American Red Cross, just one donation can help save the lives of up to three people. And although an estimated 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to donate their blood, fewer than ten percent actually do every year Blood Facts and Statistics.

In order for this event to be successful, we need people to participate – and we need help spreading the word. We are also adding some fun to the day by offering prizes. Of course, refreshments will be provided to anyone who donates blood throughout the day. On top of that, participants will also receive a free t-shirt, and will be entered into a same-day drawing for a $20 prepaid credit card. They will also be entered into a drawing that will take place at the end of the month for Beats by Dr. Dre headphones.

More than 41,000 blood donations are needed every year, and together we can help meet that number for 2014. If your blood type is Type O or Type AB-positive, it is very important that you donate. Type O is the most requested by hospitals, and Type AB-positive plasma is rare, but important because it is a universal recipient of all blood types. However, no matter your blood type, it is needed.
