Classics-And-Origin-Black-Walnut-Armalock-Armstrong-Laminate-FlooringLaminate flooring is one of the most popular choices in floors today. But when you go to the store, there are so many different choices in laminates that if you didn’t do your homework, it may be hard to know the differences. Today we will explore what you need to look for when searching for the best laminate flooring for you.

How much does your budget allow?

One of the main reasons that people turn to this amazing flooring is for the price. When picking out the perfect flooring you will first determine how much you have to spend per square foot. Always include what the cost of installation will be. Sometimes we can forget about these details and we wind up paying more than we bargained for. But a great solution would also be to get a laminate that makes it easy to self install.

Most of the pricing on laminate flooring will range considerably depending on the quality of the flooring. Make sure to shop around and look at as many alternative items as you can, to determine what is the best option for your budget.

What Grade should you go with?

Mannington-Laminate-Flooring-Special-FirestoneThere are actually 5 grades of laminate that are not often advertised. It ranges from the lowest being A1 to the highest being A5. Durability rating are also given, but they are determined by the thickness of the products. This will range anywhere from 6mm to 12mm, but they also take into consideration the toughness of the topcoat and the laminate floor’s texture.

My recommendation for the typical home would be to go with an A1 for very light traffic areas or A2 to A3 for the active home. Anything above these ratings I would recommend for commercial applications.

What design should you go with?

This one is entirely you. When you pick through laminate flooring, you will find that there are a variety of choices in color, texture and tone. This part is a bit unnerving for a person who has tough time making personal decisions based on there individual likes. But the best thing to remember is to take your time in this process.

  • You can start by narrowing choices down. Find what you like and eliminate what you don’t.
  • If you are looking for a return on investment I would pick something with a traditional look, rather than a trendy look. Buyers want something that will work with any design aesthetic.
  • Pick lighter colors and tones for darker rooms.
  • If you want to cut down on visible dirt and debris, go with a textured look. These hide dust well.
  • Make sure to go through every option available before you call it a day. The last thing anyone wants to go through is making a purchase and seeing something else you may have wanted on your way out of the store.

Most laminate flooring will come with a warranty unless you are buying some for very low prices. These warranties will vary to a certain degree. Sometimes just a bit while other times radically. If you plan on selling your home in the near future there is no reason to get a 25 year warranty. This will ad to the total cost. And many people do not realize that many flooring manufacturers will only honor a warranty to the purchaser of the flooring, and it is voided as soon as someone else buys the home. So pick a 5 to 10 year warranty if you plan on selling soon.

Adversely if you plan on staying in your home for a long time I would find the best warranty available for your laminate flooring. Some extend to a hearty 35 years. If you keep it maintained and care for it properly if anything were to ever go wrong you would be covered.
